"I wish the Party of Regions and I hope that it will get a good return in the Rada"

October 22.2008
Dear Mr. Yanukovich, I noted that people write to you for various reasons.
This gave me courage to drop a few lines to you. But first let me introduce myself. Born in the former Ukrainian Soviet republic, Chernigov Obl. During the German war, the waves of events threw me into Germany, where I stayed after the war. I completed study at the Swiss and German universities and then settled in the USA where I taught Russian Literature at various American universities/Presently I am retired and live in Hawaii.
With deepest interest I watch political events in Ukraine. The last tome I visited Ukraine in August 2008. I cannot hide, it is not to strong to say, that I was alarmed when the Party of Regions did not win majority of votes in the last election. Now a new election is approaching. This time with the right strategy the Party of Regions should have all chances to win the absolute majority in the Rada.
The election campaign should not be for politics, or ideology, like nationalism, but purely for economy, social and political stability in the country. Your Party in the Government at that time, with this strategy should have won the election. Further, improving standard of living for all people, peace within international community, non interference of foreign propaganda into Ukrainian affairs. Ukraine herself does not interfere.
Eliminate corruption. The language. Civilized countries and their governments like Finland and Switzerland guarantee the official languages for their minorities, Swedes with only 8% of population in Finland enjoy the Swedish language as official government language equal with the Finnish language. The same in Switzerland for Italian and French minorities. In Canada the French language for the French speaking minority.
I wish the Party of Regions and I hope that it will get a good return in the Rada.
Respectfully Michael Klimenko | |
