Viktor Yanukovych thanked Timothy Barrow for enhancing relations between Ukraine and Great Britain

26.03.2008, 16:32

The Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych held a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Great Britain Timothy Barrow regarding the termination of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.

Viktor Yanukovych thanked Timothy Barrow for his personal contribution to enhancing bilateral relations. The Party of Regions Leader mentioned that Great Britain has traditionally supported Ukrainian reforms in spheres of economy, democracy development, and human rights assertion.

During the meeting, Viktor Yanukovych outlined that the Party of Regions supported Ukraine's Euro-integration course and that the European integration, unlike the Euro-Atlantic one, enjoyed overwhelming support of Ukrainians. In Viktor Yanukovych's opinion, under such circumstances it would be more reasonable and expedient to focus on relations with the EU – signing a new extended agreement, creating free trade area, simplifying the visa regime.

'Our political force is ready to do anything necessary so that Ukraine achieved success on this path,' the Party of Regions Leader marked.

Upon completing, Viktor Yanukovych and Timothy Barrow were confident in the hope that the meeting would be continued in Brussels, where Mr.Barrow is going to work from now on.
