Viktor Yanukovych met with the Executive Director of the World Bank Group Herman Wijffels

The Head of the Party of Regions deputy faction in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych held a meeting with the Executive Director of the World Bank Group Herman Wijffels.
We had a pleasure of collaborating with the World Bank, when we worked in the Government. Now we are willing to enhance the areas of cooperation, – Viktor Yanukovych underlined at the meeting. – The collaboration between Ukraine and the World Bank Group as a whole, and also with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in particular, is an important aspect of the national economy progress.
The interlocutors also discussed the internal policy situation in Ukraine.
Unfortunately, the promotion of relations between Ukraine and the Bank occurs under conditions of aggravation of the home policy situation and worsening of the economy growth indices, – Viktor Yanukovych marked. – By mere four months inflation reached 13 per cent. It is 10 times above the last year's same period.
Viktor Yanukovych and Herman Wijffels discussed Ukraine's role in overcoming the global food crisis.
Ukraine has a vast untapped potential for agriculture development, – the Executive director of the World Bank Group noted. – Throughout the world more and more people set their hopes on Ukraine's extending its contribution to challenging the world food crisis.
Ukraine can become an eminent actor on the food market, – Viktor Yanukovych pointed out. – All conditions are provided to meet this, given Ukraine's joining the World Trade Organization. Among other things, it opens the way to investment increase in the agrarian sector. | |
