Ukraine's citizens trust Viktor Yanukovych most of all

09.01.2008, 14:41

During the last year and a half the Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych is a politician who enjoys the greatest trust of Ukrainian citizens and who has the lowest level of distrust. It results from the materials of research conducted by the Fund "Democratic initiatives" in December, 2007.

Until recently Viktor Yanukovych has the highest level of trust. He was trusted by 38% citizens in June 2006, in June-July 2007 the number equaled 42% and in June 2007 it was 41%.

If the prospects of regular or pre-term elections of the President of Ukraine are considered then, in spite of a continuously changing situation in this sphere, the only one indisputable leader of the presidential elections is still, as a year before, Viktor Yanukovych who is considerably ahead compared to his competitors' positions in the rating.

In October 2006, 29,6% would vote for Viktor Yanukovych, in July 2007 – 31%, in December 2007 – 30,8%. Whereas for present President Viktor Yushchenko only 12,4% were ready to give their voices in October 2006, in July 2007 – 14,6%, in December 2007 – 10,3. A bit higher rate has Y.Tymoshenko although even she lags far behind V.Yanukovych. Thus in October 2006 16,2% of the polled would vote for Y.Tymoshenko, in July 2007 – 13,5%, in December 2007 – 19,7%.
