Today the Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych has attended the presentation of a concept of economic development of Ukraine by the Foundation of Efficient Management.

Answering journalists' questions whether the concept is important, Victor Yanukovych, in particular, said:

"As a matter of fact, the estimates are given by the experts. In my opinion, this is what Ukraine needs today and this could now unite the producers, economists, and politicians. And I believe it to be Ukraine's ambition, the national program which could unite us all, irrespective of political convictions, and which we could carry out together. And all issues that separate us today should be submitted to the Ukrainian people's discretion, for example, to a referendum.

And this subject, I repeat, is worth to be united for, because all of us want our economy to grow, to live better. I think that this is a very good program. And I would outline that it is not a mere idea any more. It is a practical implementation of the idea created a couple of years ago."

Giving his vision of the impact of the political instability in the country on the economic development indices, V.Yanukovych mentioned that "in 2007, when the President signed a resolution on the pre-term parliamentary elections, inflation was at the rate of 1.5%. Inflation growth was triggered by the political instability caused by the initiators of these pre-term elections. I underlined this more than once, and it is not a secret that any political instability entails negative economic consequences.

You have noticed how the economy declined in 2005, after the 2004 elections. It happened because the re-privatization policy was obscure, the policy of indirect tax advance was unclear, the economy indices fell from 12% to 2.5%, etc. Political pursuits are the issues that entail instability, involving inflation. Hence, this year we have faced high inflation. Definitely, it is not only the Government's trouble, it is the state's trouble. We should focus on this existent challenge all together.

And if the authorities do not want to listen to the opposition's point of view, if a representative of the Opposition government who attends the Government meeting is not let to be heard, and is not provided with at least 5 minutes to express his point of view, in that case they should read the Internet, listen to what Ukrainian people say. And the people are astonished every day when they are looking at prices in a shop or a market. This is a problem indeed.

But after all, we gathered today for a very significant occasion. In fact, this is an event for our country. A program that can now unite both the society and politicians has been presented for the first time during the Independence period."
