10.07.2008, 12:16

The Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych, who is today on a trip to Donetsk region, visited Svyato-Uspenskiy Vasilievskiy monastery in Nikolskoe village. He bowed to Father Zosima's grave, who was his spiritual counselor. Besides, Viktor Yanukovych attended a festive liturgy and also took part in a religious procession.

Answering journalists' questions about his connection with Father Zosima, Viktor Yanukovych said that "Father Zosima was my spiritual counselor, I was his spiritual son and God connected us".

Viktor Yanukovych also answered a question concerning the situation in Verkhovna Rada. "What is done by the authorities today is an example of what must not be done, beginning from the rise in prices almost for everything, to the economic slump. At the moment the authorities are blockading themselves", Viktor Yanukovych marked. According to him, such actions of the authorities are nonsense. "Our partners throughout the world are amazed at such behavior of the Ukrainian authorities", the Party of Regions Leader said in particular.

Answering a question about the Party of Regions' requirement to hear the government's report in Verkhovna Rada, Viktor Yanukovych said that for the time being members of parliament have already, as they say, "matured". "And if today decisive steps are not taken, it will definitely come to a poor end. Deputies should unite and make decisions", Viktor Yanukovych underlined.

According to him, there are two possible ways out of the current parliamentary crisis: either deputies will unite or there will be another pre-term elections. But early elections, in the Party of Regions Leader's opinion, are not needed by anybody.

He also reminded journalists that today the Opposition government is going to consider the corruption issue. The opposition ministers have prepared reports on this subject.
