Viktor Yanukovych: Unless BYUT and "People's Self-Defense" admit in the nearest future the fact that the coalition does not exist, the issue of the pre-term elections will remain topical

02.09.2008, 14:29

The Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych speaking today with the media representatives in the Verkhovna Rada said that the coalition members should honestly tell all Ukrainian people and the members of parliament that the coalition does not exist de facto.

"Primarily the main issue should be solved – whether the coalition exists or it does not. We demand that these two factions – BYUT and "People's Self-Defense" admit the fact that the coalition does not exist. Unless they do it in the nearest future, the issue of pre-term elections will remain topical", Viktor Yanukovych underlined.

The question is obvious here: either it is necessary to create a new majority in Parliament today or to proceed to the extraordinary parliamentary elections – there is no other way, – the Party of Regions Leader marked.

At the same time, Viktor Yanukovych noted that holding of the extraordinary elections would not solve political problems, but would exhaust Ukraine further.
