The Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych considers that new elections to Parliament are unlikely to be held. He said this after making the Party of Regions' statement at the PoR Press Center in "Zoryanyi".
Answering the question of a Russian TV channel correspondent about the Party of Regions' participation in forming a new coalition, Viktor Yanukovych pointed out that all political forces represented in Parliament should take part in such negotiations. "We will sit down to talks and discuss the issues of the present and the future of Ukraine. And we will unite with those who mostly share our views how to build our life", Viktor Yanukovych noted.
In the Party of Regions Leader's opinion, the issues regarding the coalition composition will be settled not by President Yushchenko, but by People's Deputies. "There is a period of time stipulated in the law, and Yushchenko as a participant of this process, as the President of Ukraine and as a representative of certain political force, definitely, will also be a player in this process. Therefore, all of us are participants of the process where everybody has rights and plenary powers", Viktor Yanukovych underlined.
V. Yanukovych also mentioned that "unless deputies in the due period of time unite and form a coalition, then, certainly, there will be elections". However, in his opinion, "it is an unlikely course of events, although it is possible". | |
