Viktor Yanukovych: Ukraine is the EU's reliable partner

16.09.2008, 16:14

The Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych held a meeting with Prime Minister of Czech Republic Mirek Topolánek. They discussed the issue of a domestic policy situation in Ukraine, the ways out of a political crisis, as well as the prospects of Ukraine's cooperation with the EU, in particular for the first half of 2009, when the Czech Republic will preside at the European Union.

Estimating the recent events in parliament, Viktor Yanukovych pointed out that the orange coalition's collapse was not unexpected. "We predicted it from the first days of existence of the so-called democratic coalition. Since 2005, when the orange came to power, there has been no end to crises in Ukraine – the political changed economic ones", – Viktor Yanukovych noted. Presently, according to him, Ukraine utterly needs reforms.

Mirek Topolánek marked substantial economic growth during the Viktor Yanukovych government's work. "This experience is interesting for us", the Czech Republic's Prime Minister mentioned.

Discussing the cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, Viktor Yanukovych said that Ukraine was the EU's reliable partner. "We confidently move towards European integration. We do not have political disagreement in Ukraine's European prospects", the Party of Regions Leader pointed out.
