Viktor Yanukovych: The Party of Regions is ready to form a professional team able to govern the country effectively

The Party of Regions Leader Viktor Yanukovych considers that the Ukrainian power is ill, and it can be cured only by pre-term elections. He said about it in an interview to journalists on Tuesday after visiting Nikolskiy cathedral of Svyato-Pokrovsk monastery in Kyiv.
Viktor Yanukovych marked that last year a decree on pre-term parliamentary elections annihilated stable coalition and sustainable development of the economy. According to him, Parliament was actually destroyed.
Now, in the Party of Regions Leader's opinion, the consequences of the pre-term elections conducted in 2007 are taking place.
"If today to comment the existent situation in the country, it is necessary first and foremost to admit that there is no coalition, and if there is no coalition, then there is only one way out. If the authorities cannot reach a mutual understanding among themselves, it is necessary to look for another format of the coalition, the Ukrainian people should define whom they entrust power today", Viktor Yanukovych said.
He expressed confidence that President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko could not but issue a decree on early termination of parliamentary powers.
On the journalists' request to comment the situation concerning legal controversy of the elections, V. Yanukovych underlined: "The fight for power is under way. Now the politicians are searching for reasons, but the reason is one – the current authorities are unable to develop the country".
Viktor Yanukovych also pointed out that if his political force is supported by the Ukrainian people, the Party of Regions is ready to form a professional team able to govern the country effectively. | |
