Anatoliy Kinakh: The 2008 budget does not meet the priorities of the economy development and increase of its competitiveness
08.02.2008, 09:42
The main reason of high inflation in January is that the directions of social and economic policy which were created by the 2008 Budget do not meet the priorities of the economy development and increase of its competitiveness.
This was stated by Anatoliy Kinakh, People's Deputy, the Party of Regions parliamentary faction member, the USPP president, "LIGABusinessInform" reports.
In particular, Anatoliy Kinakh emphasized that strengthening of a deadlock tactic of consumption at the expense of the development strategy, including modernization of the economy, introduction of the energy-savings technologies, the proactive innovation policy could not but affect inflation figures.
'Today it is caused by excessive consumption', – he mentioned.
According to Anatoliy Kinakh, an increase in consumer prices by 2,9 % and in industrial prices by 2,3% in January involves threatening tendencies. 'Under such conditions the worst scenario may occur', – considers Anatoliy Kinakh.
'It is necessary, at the level of cooperation between the legislative and executive branches of power to realize a degree of responsibility and effectively implement a system of measures against inflation. Foremost, the changes in the course of social and economic development should be introduced.
The 2008 budget should contain elements that will enable to solve system problems of the economy. This should be extended with working out a Tax code, completing the land reform, improving corporate relations, etc. The state budget is the "financial constitution" of the country. It should be a stage to increase the level and quality of living rather than a political and commercial project adjusted for the next elections', – Anatoliy Kinakh summed up. | |
