Olexiy Plotnikov: Having trusted Tymoshenko's populist pledges, people doomed themselves to today's inflation and price growth

People's Deputy, the Party of Regions parliamentary faction member Olexiy Plotnikov in a comment to the Party of Regions Press-service declared that 100 days of the Tymoshenko work turned out to be more than enough to make poor people even poorer and to compel "middle class" to make both ends meet:
- The government has failed to submit to Verkhovna Rada a draft on making alterations to the State budget of Ukraine so far. Instead of a serious work, the government is looking for ways and loopholes to put off the deadline for introducing amendments to the budget. This shows Tymoshenko's intentions to keep allocating budgetary funds manually. And the Cabinet of Ministers representatives' statements that they expect for the Constitutional Court decree on illegal suspension of social payments by the government, are helpless. It is a lame excuse for not presenting the law to Verkhovna Rada.
In my opinion, politicians of spoken genre entered the guidance of Ministry of Finance, as well as of many other ministries and departments again. These theorists do not see alive people, their problems are behind the numbers. It explains why the Tymoshenko government cut many social expenses from the budget. For the time being she focused all forces and financial resources on the only PR-campaign – reimbursements of the Savings Bank deposits. It is the PR-campaign indeed rather than a good deed. Because it hurts another social layers of the population of Ukraine: funding of the Chornobyl programs, programs of social rehabilitation of disabled, programs of the youth housing crediting were in fact almost fully halted.
The Ministry of Finance led by V.Pinzenik is unable to elaborate a real budget, which would ensure normal development of the state. And it is fully explicable. In fact, the social pledges, which Tymoshenko generously had made to voters during the pre-election campaign, proved to be merely fine words. They initially were not intended to be fulfilled. As a result, today we have an ersatz-budget, that provides neither social security of the citizens, neither economic nor innovative development of the country.
Lack of a good budget impacts inflation as well. With the Tymoshenko government in power, the prices are growing every day. The World Bank could not but review its prognoses for inflation in Ukraine, having increased the figures. With such rates the country could find itself on the edge of acute economic crisis already in September.
The doling out of deposits will not play the last role. Surface attractiveness of this campaign has already shocked Ukrainians severely. Looking at prices in shops, we can estimate the whole jesuitism of the Tymoshenko policy: giving one thousand with one arm, she takes away a double amount from the people's pockets with the other hand.
Alas, but having trusted Tymoshenko's populist pledges, people doomed themselves to today's inflation, price advance, the political confrontation being continued. The Party of Regions has constantly warned people that it is not worth trusting Tymoshenko's fruity promises. The Party of Regions members keep revealing to people the truth of Tymoshenko's deeds within 100 days of the government work. And we still believe that the society will finally understand: all is not gold that glitters. | |
