Yaroslav Sukhoi: Now the most important thing is to ensure that the money appropriated for liquidating the disaster consequences reaches the sites

People's Deputy, the Party of Regions parliamentary faction member Yaroslav Sukhoi commented to ForUm on Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine's decision to appropriate for financing liquidation of the disaster consequences in the country's western regions UAH 5.802bn. In particular, he said:
- Regarding the amount of the funds allotted for assisting the suffered regions, I consider them to be quite enough for the first time. And thereafter we will count up and figure out how much money is actually required for complete liquidation of the flood sequels.
Do you know what the problem is? We can repair roads, bridges, the whole infrastructure and so on in the suffered region, but how to compensate the people for the damages related to the loss of harvest? It is quite difficult to compensate each individual household for these losses. The reason is our law-makers' fault. They should make alterations to the legislation so that the people could obtain some indemnification for the lost cattle and uncollected harvest.
Now the most important thing is to ensure that the money appropriated for liquidating the disaster consequences is not embezzled by the "unique team". This money should reach the sites. The regional and district councils should immediately summon, count up losses and honestly distribute the received funds. They know better who, how much and what needs. | |
